Full Moon Flow

This class is taught by:

April Huth

April’s path to yoga began after playing team sports; she enjoyed the physical demands but was uneasy with the concept of a winner and a loser. She was also uncomfortable with the aggressive nature of sports. In the summer of 2010 when April began practicing yoga, she was attracted by the physical nature of the postures but even more fascinated that ego and competition played no part in the practice. That led April to a greater appreciation for yoga and an in-depth self-study. She was inspired by the mind and body connection in texts written by Chopra, Iyengar, and Baptiste. In the fall of 2011 she took her practice to the next level when she certified at Chagrin Yoga to teach Power Vinyassa.

Her teaching style is peaceful and creative, specializing in an energetic Vinyassa Flow class. She also offers a basics class for students that want to focus on foundation or those just beginning their practice. April's calm, peaceful demeanor is an asset in the classroom and her introspective nature reflects positivity in her teaching. Her serenity comes from her great love and respect for nature and the environment. "I believe that yoga is so multi-faceted, you can take home anything you gain from the practice.  As humans I feel as though we can never stop growing, learning, and evolving and yoga is a gateway to do so.  My hope is to inspire my students as I have been inspired."

As the retail manager of One Love Yoga Boutique, April also brings her respect for the environment to the retail space as all the clothes she purchases are earth-friendly. April is a graduate of the fashion merchandising program at Kent State University; she is elated to be able to bring yoga and fashion back home to Kent.

Carly Conatser

Yoga is a process, not a product. No matter what life throws at us, yoga offers compassion resiliency, presence, and strength, even when it’s just laying down and breathing deeply. For two years Carly served as an intern for the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, where she also completed 200- and 500-hour yoga teacher training programs. Before the internship, she taught yoga to veterans and survivors of domestic violence in New York City. Carly has continued to deepen her understanding of yoga as a healing modality with additional teaching certifications in restorative yoga and trauma-informed yoga. Carly is currently the curriculum director and lead teacher of the 200-hour teacher training program at One Love Yoga & Boutique in Kent, OH. She feels lucky to support others on their journeys as yogis and teachers. Yoga helped Carly to know herself better, and she loves to support others on their paths of empowerment and discovery.

Sandy Brotje

Sandy found yoga when her three children were in middle school. She was looking for a way to become calmer, grounded and less stressed. Yoga provided that. It continues to help Sandy deal with the stress and chaos of living in this modern life. It is her way of getting back to what matters – love and compassion for all beings everywhere.

Sandy had wanted to take teacher training for a long time, but couldn't fit it into her 5 day work week schedule. One Love offers weekends only training, so in January 2016, she jumped at the chance to get her YRT 200 certification.

Sandy has practiced at many of the area’s yoga studios. She loves the diversity of the studios and teachers. Influences of many of those teachers can be seen in Sandy’s teaching style. Sandy believes that slow steady breathing, soft soothing music and holding poses a bit longer will cultivate a calm mind.

Sandy is always learning and has taken many workshops over the years, including:
• 100 hour teacher training certificate from Charry Shakti Om (Charry Morris) January 2014
• Yoga Alliance RYT 200 April 2015
• Practical Reiki Master 2015
• Yoga Workshops by some of the leading Dharma Mittra teachers: Charry Morris, Alex Baechler, Yiannis Andritsos, Brenden Lentz, Rebecca Kovacs and Sri Andre Ram
• Meditation workshops lead by Elena Georgouses
• Chakra workshops lead by Jennessee Roy

Kim Quinn

Kimberly Quinn, a busy mother of four and practicing attorney, knows what it's like to live in a hectic world. After finding yoga and honing her practice she realized the potential benefit of helping others through her own style and teaching.

She completed her Yoga Certification, a 200 hour Yoga teacher training course, culminating in January 2012. Always looking to grow, she has attended a number of yoga workshops including Foundations in Action in Miami, Florida with Baron Baptiste, Gravity and Grace with Peter Sterious and an immersion workshop with Sid McNairy and Pradeep.

Kimberly's philosophy centers on healing and strengthening the body, while reconciling the pressures and pace of everyday life with a meditative and spiritually uplifting practice.

Led by Kim Quinn and Eric Dreger

Feeling depleted, overstimulated or overheated? Your body might be calling for the cooling, quieting practice of Chandra Namaskar or Moon Salutations. This practice can also be a great balance to practicing the more traditional Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutations. The moon’s energy is very calming and soothing and can tell us so much about ourselves and the world around us. Practice Chandra Namaskar with us under the full moon and cultivate some lunar energy within yourself.

This workshop will begin with an understanding of the qualities of that month’s full moon. Followed with more restorative poses, accompanied by crystal singing bowls and other vibrational instruments. Learn more about this unique flow and a little about the energy of the full moon. This workshop will be held inside at the studio.

Cost: $25
